Materials


West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester DK solids, 100 % wool, 50 g/112/122yds
Yarn A: Blueberry 150 x 4 4 , 6. 6) balls
Yarn B: Burnt Orange 250 x 2 (2, 3, 3) balls
Yarn C: Honey 289 x 1 ball
Yarn D: Mocha 662 x 1 ball
Yarn E: Olive 315 x 1 ball
Yarn F: Teal 134 x 1 ball
Yarn G: Pomegranate 569 x 1 ball
Yarn H: Coral 542 x 1 ball

5 mm and 5.5 mm hooks

Yarn alternatives


You can use any DK-weight yarn that works to the same tension.

Tension


Work 16 sts and 10 rows in pattern to measure 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in using 5 mm hook, or size required to obtain tension.

Start 


Back welt


Using 5 mm hook and yarn A, 9 (9, 12, 12) ch.
Row 1: 1 dc in second ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn - 8(8, 11, 11) dc.
Row 2-73 (82, 91, 100): Dc blo in each st to end, turn.

Turn and work along row ends as folls:
Set-up Row: (RS) Evenly distribute 73 (82, 91, 100) dc along longo edge. 
Fasten off yarn A, do not turn.

With RS facing join yar B in first st and cont as folls:
Row 1: (RS) 4 ch (counts as 1 dtr), 1 dtr in same sp, (2 ch, miss 2 dc, dtr3tog in next dc) to last dc, 2 ch, 2dtr in last dc, change to yarn C on last pull through of last dtr. Fasten off yarn B.

Fasten off yarn C.
Row 3: 1 ch 1 dc in each dc to end, change to yarn A on last pull through. 
Fasten off yarn D.
Row 4: 2 ch (counts as 1 htr), 1 htr in each dc to end, change to yarn E on last pull through. Fasten off yarn A.
Row 5: 3 ch, 1 tr in same st, (miss 2 tr, 3 tr in next st) to last 3 htr, miss 2 htr, 2 tr in last st, change to yarn F on last pull through.
Fasten off yarn E.
Row 6: 1 ch, 1 dc in each dc to end, turn.
Row 7: 4 ch, miss 1tr (2tr, 1ch, miss 1 dc, etr) to last 3 dc, 1 ch, miss 1 dc, 2 tr, turn.
Row 8: 1 ch, 1 dc in  each tr and ch-sp to end, turno, change to yarn A on last pull through. Fasten off yarn F.
Row 9: 4 ch, 1 dtr in next tr, (1dtr in ch.sp, 2 dtr) to last ch-sp, 1 dtr in last ch-sp, 1 dtr in top of 3 ch, turn, chango to yarn G on last pull through. Fasten off yarn A.
Row 10: 3 ch, 8 tr, change to yarn H, tr5tog in next st (change to yarn G, 8tr, chang to yarn H, tr5tog in next st) to last 9 sts, 9tr using yarn G, change to yarn A on last pull through. Fasten off yarns G an H.
Row 11: 2 ch, 1 htr in each tr and top of each tr5og, to end, change to yarn D on last pull through.
Fasten off yarn A.
Row 12: 1dc in each dc to end.

Rep Rows 1-12 twice more**
Rep Rows 1-4 once more
Fasten off.

Shape Right Neck


Next row: (WS) using yarn C, 3ch, (2tr in 2ch-sp, 1tr in top of dtr3tog) 8 (9, 10, 11) times, change to yarn D on lat pull through.
Fasten off yarn C
Row 2: 1dc in each dc to enda, change to yarn A on last pull through. Fasten off yarn D.
Row 3: 2ch, 1tr in each tr to end. Fasten  off

Shape left neck


With WS facing, miss centre 9(10, 11, 12) clusters, rejoin yarn C in top of next cluster. Complete as for right neck.

Making up

Join shoulder seams. Sew sides leaving 20 (20, 21, 21) cm 7¾, 8¼, 8¼) in open for armholes.

Sleeves


Both alike
Cuff

Using 5 mm hook and yarn A 9 (9, 12, 12, ) ch.
Row 1: 1dc in second ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn - 8 (8, 11, 11) dc.
Rows 2-30 (30, 33, 33): 1 dc blo in each st to end, turn.
Join short ends of cuff together with sl st join or by sewing.

Main sleeve


Rnd 1: (RS) using har A evenly distribute 30 (30, 33, 33) dc around cuff edge, sl st to join, turn
Rnd 2: (WS) work 2dc in each dc around, turn - 60 (60, 66, 66) dc. Fasten off yarn A.
Rnd 3: Join yarn B in any st, 4ch, 2 dtr in same st, 2 ch, miss 2 dc, (dtr3tog in next dc,2ch, miss 2dc) around sl, st to top of 4 ch to join, turn.
Fasten off yarn B.

Change to 5,5mm hook.
Rnd 4: join yarn C in top or any dtr3tog cluster, 3ch, (2tr in 2ch-sp, 1tr in top of dtr3tog) around, 2tr in last 2ch-sp, sl st to top of 3 ch to  join. Fasten off yarn C.
Row 5: Join yarn D in any tr, 1 dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join, turn.
Fasten off yarn D.
Row 6: join yarn a in any dc, 2 ch, 1htr in each st around, sl st to top of 2ch to join, turn.
Fasten off yarn A.
Row 7: join yarn E in any htr, 3ch, 2tr in samest, (miss 2 sts, 3 htr in next st) around, sl st to top of 3ch to join, turn. Fasten off yarn E.
Row 8: Join yarn F in any st, 1dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join, turn, do not fasten off.
Row 9: 3ch, 1 tr in next dc, e ch (2tr, 1ch, miss 1dc) around, sl st to top of 3ch to join, turn, do not fasten off.
Row 10: 1dc in each tr and ch-sp around, sl st to first dc to join, turn.
Fasten off yarn  F.
Row 11: join yarn  A in any st, 4ch, 1dtr in each dc around, sl st to top of 4ch to join, turn. Fasten off yarn A.
Row 12: using yarn H, rep Row 5, turn
Row 13: join yarn G in any dc, 3ch, 1tr in each st around, sl st to top of 3ch to join, turn.
Row 14: using yarn A rep Row 6, turn.
Row 15. Using yarn D rep Row 5, do not turn.
Starting with RS facing for next row, rep rows 3-15 twice more. Rep rows 3-7 adding extra pattern rows if longer sleeves are required.

Finishing

Sew sleeves into armholes

Neck edging

Using yarn  A and 5 mm hook, work three rows in dc around neck opening. Sew in ends.
